Hello,  I have been a member of Deepastambha Charitable trust for the past 5 years.
There's one question that everyone keeps asking me. What do you love about Deepastambha? And there it is...it has so many things, that it's impossible to only name one.
So to name a few of the qualities of Deepastambha ,I would say we definitely have a crystal clear approach regarding every activity we do and every project that we undertake. Along with the clear mindset about the projects Deepastambha also has a clear set of framework to make the project a successful one, and the cherry on top is that each and every member makes sure that they adhere to it. Last but not the least it's the management skills of our whole team that makes our ideas do wonders!!!
In today's uncertain times of this Covid-19 pandemic Deepastambha has shown a great skill to hold on to each other and keep up the good work  without a single break.
Keeping in mind the sense of togetherness and the will to keep on working for the betterment of the  society, we as a team will overcome any obstacle that comes. Having such a mindset and enthusiasm in everyone's the key strength of all Deepastambha members.
In the coming span of 4-5 years I believe that by taking great strides forward in our current projects we will be able to take them to newer heights and much on a grander scale.
I hope to see Deepastambha grow into a bigger and stronger family,  working for the betterment of the society and inspiring others to do so!!
Thank you!

Hello everyone, Today I would like to share the best thing that has happened to me till date..that is being a member of Deepastambha Charitable Trust(DCT).
I had never thought that a single cup of tea would lead me to the most amazing journey of my life.
It was November 2014 when two volunteers of DCT who were promoting the most awaited event of the year - UPAYN (Deepastambha's mega donation camp)  and some of my friends invited me for tea ,where we discussed about Deepastambha...... and that's how my journey began with this wonderful group of people.
The thing I like about Deepastambha is it's work culture and the freedom given to share new ideas and to get to work on that is the real deal. This is the reason for 600+ members working just in Pune city.
The best thing about Deepastambha is that everyone here knows why we are doing what we are doing and I think this will definitely help us go through all the troubles and still keep us all connected. Teamwork is one of the best strength of DCT, Everyone shares an immense respect for each other.
With Covid-19 we surely have to change the way of conducting activities and all other work as well but the energy and intensity will not be hampered. We will have to distribute the work force and complete the tasks at different levels. Conducting the activities online and designing them accordingly is going to be a task. But as I said earlier we always work as a team and we will definitely figure it out.
I personally want to see our members working all over the country but for the next few years I would definitely love to see Deepastambha working in all the regions of our state. Looking at the speed and expansion of our work on different projects it doesn't seem difficult. I think we need to find some focused members in new cities and around the state who will help spread the philosophy of DCT and add value to our society. This will definitely bolster the organization and help to enhance it. With new members coming in from different regions with different problems and ideas we will gain various perspectives to look forward to which will elevate Deepastambha for sure.
To gather such devoted members we can organize few promotional activities in colleges, hostels, and many different platforms. To kick start this movement we can also collaborate with the local NGOs in various cities.
I would love to be the part of this process and would definitely contribute as much as possible.
Remember, Till our "WHY" is clear nothing can stop us.
Thank you.

How can one not take the opportunity to express about Deepastambha Charitable Trust (DCT) - the organization of perennial passion for helping illuminate lives through work rendered in the interest of society?
The one wonderful thing about Deepastambha that not only binds all its members into one but also effects light into the lives of so many others is the endearing love at the source of every initiative undertaken. Love for bringing about a change, love for targeted work at betterment and the love for the smile at its achievement!
A persistent 11 years at such tireless striving for social betterment all in the dust, soil and mud and here comes knocking the pandemic- COVID-19, locking us up in our houses. Halt to our work? Think again. Deepastambha goes online with all initiatives and continues awareness campaigns! Where does such an ardent resolve source itself from?
>An honest determination to render selfless service aimed at change so innately imbibed in the organizational culture that the collective slogan goes: #nobreak even amid a pandemic. This resolute culture that holds fast onto the focus will ensure us back on track and ground no sooner do conducive conditions set in.
The pandemic has affected all lives and working conditions world over, us being no exception. Our perspective of our own world stands to change, most people say. Doesn’t this entail a change in our organization? Apart from facilitating social distancing and sanitization that have become part of our lives now, an enhanced focus on health, well-being and environment-centered activities to undertake waits to deliver a stronger impact on people, who are now extra sincere and sensitive towards it. Seizure of this opportunity would pay-off positively for sure.
Having achieved important milestones in a decade-plus journey now, Deepastambha , with a fervent membership, a repository of experiences, an affectionate culture, discipline and focused determination at work, would be able to be a platform for more and more number of people willing to do their optimistic bit to help make a change as well as those who require it, beyond urban circles. This can be facilitated with the help of our online working experience which got majorly added to now. With further polishing, it can help involve the virtual world in our working to expand our reach and impact more than before. Members with professional expertise in particular fields assigned working on specific projects could help deliver further better in those. With this, Deepastambha in 2025 looks from my lenses as the perfect manifestation of ‘the helping hand’ for whoever needs it, nearer or farther, for betterment with a bigger, stronger family and a longer schedule!

When Deepastambha is celebrating its 10th year......

DCT Member :  Sagarika Saket Rajurkar

Educational Qualification: Student of Standard 9th, Modern High School, NCL, Pune.

‘Deepastambha’ means ‘light house’ like wise DEEPASTAMBHA CHARITABLE TRUST has played an important role of showing me right direction of my life. DCT gave me an opportunity to express my views before people of same interests. I had participated in Deepastambha’s “SKOOL SANSAD” competition and it attracted me to be a member of it. Finally, my wish came true, I became a member of DCT through participating in its #i4India project. It was indeed an incredible experience to be a part of it. It was really very exciting to see people of different professions, ages & nature working together burying their mutual differences with lots of dedication for a good social cause.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork wins championships.”
I am really very pleased and happy that by taking lots of efforts and reaching our goals, DCT has completed its 10 successful years. I would love to see DCT getting success in its ‘GRAMARTHAN’ project by taking further steps towards making ‘Ranjane’ an IDEAL VILLAGE in upcoming 3 years and I am sure that we will…
I will be soon completing my 1st year in DCT… I feel gratified to be a member of Deepastambha Charitable Trust. And I am grateful to DCT from bottom of my heart to count me as a part of it…
All the best DCT…!!

It is a nice initiative taken by Deepastambha to do something for society since 10 years. It is a very good platform for all youngsters who are enthusiastic, passionate and want to do something for society. It involves energetic and dynamic people from various professional and educational fields.

I feel really proud to be a part of such great organization since last June. Instead of wasting Sunday as a holiday you can contribute your time towards sustainable living and betterment of society. One thing I would like to mention about it that in our team, there is no hierarchy system. Any member is free to take lead to organize Sunday activity and become a project manager. After every activity, all members gave feedback about an activity. So, one can learn a lot of skills and improve his/her leadership qualities. All such weekly activities gave me life lessons which have changed my perspective towards life.

I foresee Deepastambha becoming a role model organization all over India and I will work for it as much I can. Thanks to all DCT members who have motivated and inspired me.

DCT in its 10th year- Time for celebration, many more to come! Looking at how I can contribute in expanding our work.

I see Deepastambha as an organisation spread across the states. People in different part of the country contributing by being a part of DCT in different areas of India. People own up to expand the work of Deepastambha.

I got the opportunity to work in Skool Sansad 2017 and 2018.

The experience of working on such a big project was phenomenal.

Skool Sansad is one of the best platforms for school students of today's day and age.

Skool Sansad is a complex project involving over hundred students from schools all over the city, mentors, schools, teachers, judges and most importantly the, topics and issues presented in the Sansad.

Working as a part of DCT team for over two months from ideation to logistics right up until the last huge group photograph has been a unique learning experience of a lifetime for me.

DCT in its tenth year symbolizes sustainability and evolution; two things that are most sought after, very often spoken, about but rarely implemented to the fullest.

To sustain a value laden volunteer movement for a period of ten years and expand not just in numbers but more so in terms of qualitative growth while being rooted to the core values that brought together the organization in the first place, is an achievement.

The next three years are exciting times for India itself in terms of socio-economic growth, public access to socio-economic issues through empowered social media and most importantly 'public awareness of these issues'. Banking on this, Deepastambha stands to move ahead in its mission.

There is always an exponential phase in a growth curve and I see DCT at the beginning of it right now. The team has abundant experience through a decade of unbroken chain of activities and projects, it has the best 'best practices' in project execution which are comparable to any corporate organization, it has the fresh energy and innovative ideas of new volunteers many of them Skool Sansad alumni, and it has the will to put the ideas in practice.

The only thing better than a good idea is an idea which is put to practice and the working in DCT reflects just that.
My only regret of not joining the organization before, is nullified by the enriching experience every time at the end of an activity or project. Being a member of DCT and contributing to this awesome initiative is a privilege and an achievement.

I am associated with DCT since last 6 years.

It was thoroughly learning experience for me.

What I have contributed towards DCT should come from the other members.

“Unity and open culture was, is and will be our strength.”

Deepastambha is the most enthusiastic group I have ever came across till date.Despite having career and family responsibilities everyone is contributing as per respective reach. As far as my thinking goes, apart from social work the personal growth is also there. There is no concentrated effort on any of the particular area as yet, but exactly on other side we are reaching to the various social problems and needy areas.

In 10th year of working, I see DCT as a Successful social organization as far as actual social work concerned,Carrying the responsibility of selected social issues thoroughly and having the exact identity that was there on the first day of DCT.

Member’s unity is the major strength of DCT.The bond between members is and will be a reason for success.Though diverting from ground level activities is issue for concern.

“Only those who have learned the power of sincere and selfless contribution experience life's deepest joy: true fulfillment.”

BESTOWER- MANOJ SHYAM PATANKAR

When I joined Deepastambha in 2009, it was more or less a clean slate and the world ahead of us. We managed very well keeping our heads down and concentrating on working for the society in every minute way possible.
I was fortunate enough to be a part of the very first installment of
‘Eco-Paavitrya’ which is now a hugely successful project conducted by DCT.
During the early days, a mind bubbling with ideas and limbs eager to work there was a need to reign in my thoughts and actions. That was when DCT’s philosophy helped me grow in a controlled manner. Certain ideas had to be dismissed as they did not fit in the philosophy, but in the long run that proved to be a wise decision.
To me, being able to work in such an environment is an achievement in itself.
One that does not feel the need for trophies and medals, it is quite an encouragement in itself to keep going.
During the annual meet of 2013 I was tasked with the responsibility of delivering the ‘vote of thanks’ in front of some noted personalities. A challenging duty on the face of it, the team work and encouragement put in by everyone involved made it very easy and all the more enjoyable in the end. Being a ‘mentor’ for couple of schools during the ‘Skool-Sansad’ project in 2014 and 2015 was an experience which I will always cherish. Understanding fresh and brilliant thoughts coming from school-children was a humbling experience, one that cemented my confidence in the great future of our country.
Deepastambha for me has always been a platform where you can explore your ideas to help create positive change in the society, one where experiential learning supersedes bookish one, and bestows far bigger impact on personal life. Apart from getting to know fantastic people, one can meet highly respected personalities from various strata of the society- which only adds to your knowledge and experience. Deepastambha is like a sprawling banyan tree under which innumerable activities that aim at bringing about positive social changes begin. The roots are strong and the opportunity for further growth is plain as day.

We have already managed a feat -of operating for almost 8 straight years- that not many can. This proves DCT is on the right track and should keep moving forward. A couple of years from now in its 10th year of working, it will be a whole new ball game altogether. More than just planning and dreaming about it, we should be ready for it. There will be challenges that are unknown to us at this stage, but the team we have built at this moment is more than capable of reaching for the stars. Personally, I see DCT as an organization many will look up to. This will give us great power to channelize the willingness and strength to create a positive change. But with great power, there will be a far greater responsibility. ‘2 hours for the society every week’ has been our motto until now it is should remain so.
Projects like Gramarthan and Skool-Falak will experience monumental horizontal growth and I see school-related projects like Eco-Paavitrya and Skool-Sansad find acceptance in the highest levels of government.
To sum it all up – so far so good, the tenth year will be one where we look back on our achievements proudly, and find more strength to keep moving ahead.
The strength of DCT lies in every last member. This is one aspect we have been very fortunate about. There is no dearth of enthusiasm and willingness to go a long way to achieve something. Members thrive in an environment where support and encouragement can be found easily, this in turn gives birth to innovation. We have undertaken numerous innovative projects, and they are all down to the hard work and readiness of our members to take up responsibility.
Talking about weaknesses there aren’t many but the ones that exist, need to be dealt with positively. On one hand members come up with innovative ideas, solutions and all inclusive projects; but on the other we are not always successful in pulling together resources to make those ideas work. Tackling the resources problem is the one that must be addressed in order to ensure even smoother working of the organization.

I like to do social work and through DCT,I have achieved it.One important thing I learned is that social work has to be done in systematic manner.
(Let go attitude or “Chalta hai, social work hai” are not tolerated)
Social work should be done for oneself, not as a favor.

I am an ordinary member of DCT.Being a lawyer,I devote my time, contacts to the organization.Honestly, the quantum I am supposed to contribute, I haven’t yet but I shall manage it in near future.
DCT is an integral part of my life, without which I cannot imagine my life.In social work, one has to think of contributing than achieving and this is DCT’s philosophy which I like.Dct is a platform where on can explore his/her ideas and our trustees are always there to support these legitimate ideas.
Hats off to Trustees ,they deserve an applaud. I love u Trustees!
DCT has achieved many things beyond imagination in past few years. The philosophy and concept behind DCT will reach great heights in future.
Today’s scenario, the activities for the entire year is fixed and to manage these activities,DCT has to be financially sound. And we all will take appropriate steps to achieve the goal.
Why I like DCT? Because it doesn’t revolve around one person. It is a work based Organisation.
The one and only strength of DCT is its members. Its a voluntary organization ,a charitable trust with some restrictions.Hence, to achieve the goal,we need some volunteers/members who will work for the organization.
It is time now for DCT to look for earning mechanism as everything we do, we need Vitamin “M” (Money) without which we cannot survive. We are positive people and are working on it which we will achieve next year.

I am extremely proud to be a member of DCT and I love DCT being a part of my life!

A failure is not always a mistake, it may simply be the best one can do under the circumstances. The real mistake is to stop trying.
I can accept failure, everyone fails at something. But I can't accept not trying.
Sometimes by losing a battle you find a new way to win the war.

BESTOWER-  NEHA RAJENDRA PANDKAR

Achievement:
Inception of Project Encyclo-Falak and its loops for three quarters of year 2014-15
Deepastambha is An Impartial Platform for me.
Deepastambha in its 10th year of working will be An entity that has gained assurance of desirable and sustainable future with its integrity and strong belief in "social work professionalism"
Genuine work culture and open approach for ideas, strong project incubation procedures, has been the strength of DCT as few weak points to mention, a system for guaranteed member involvement for baby projects, loopholes with proof reading system of text circulation through mails.

“The greatest day in once life is when he takes total responsibility for his attitudes. That's the day he truly grows up.”

Deepastambha is an amazing platform for any person who wishes to contribute in the field of social work. From the past 6 years, Deepastambha has been working tirelessly, keeping a steady pace and chasing for excellence in every activity that it takes up. With every passing day it strives to make this society a better place to live in by attempting to make people socially aware and responsible.
For me, Deepastambha is a place where I have the freedom to express and channelize my thoughts, ideas and creativity. It has helped me imbibe skills like multitasking, meticulous planning and execution, punctuality, team work and positive thinking. It has helped me polish my skills in public speaking, leadership, being an attentive listener and channelizing my enthusiasm in an output-oriented direction. Working for Annual Meet or for Deepotsav was a life time experience which gave me immense pleasure and satisfaction.
Strength of Deepastambha is its firm ethics, focused aim and its dedicated members. What makes it unique is that its members from varied backgrounds come together for a common cause and give output in an unanimous voice.
With so many parallel projects running and innovative activities going on, it definitely is a big challenge!
But consistent efforts and commitment to the team will surely take Deepastambha to greater heights!

It gives me immense pleasure to feature in this blog. I had always liked to be close to nature and that's how I came to know about Deepastambha - a Group or People who arrange tree plantation drives, through Facebook. And since then I've been a small part of Deepastambha and Deepastambha has been a part of me.
The most important two things which kept me attending Deepastambha activities are 1 the type of activities we do and 2 welcoming nature of the Group.
My most favourite activity is Deepotsav - Diwali celebration at an old age home. The joy you see on grandma and grandpa's faces, makes me feel so HAPPY that it can't be expressed in words. Activities like these give you the motivation to keep the good work going.
Apart from these innumerable moments of joy, Deepastambha has helped me grow as a person. I feel privileged to be given opportunities to represent Deepastambha, to be the face of Deepastambha on stage. The People, biggest strength of us; We come from different backgrounds, professions, age groups. I feel very lucky to be a part of such diverse group. Most important thing is social awareness each individual inculcates within themselves being a part of this group. Deepastambha has also given me so many good friends, guides. It has helped me become a bit more social person than I was before.
I've been a part of Deepastambha since last three years. I have seen it grow and I see it going places moving ahead. More and more people joining in, more organisations getting associated with Deepastambha through CSR, spreading reach to other cities than Pune.
I would definitely continue being a part of this group for many years to come!

Deepastambha is like a family for me. It is like an institution, where I learn new things regularly. It is like a "stress-buster" after a long tiring week. Working here.. makes me happy.

In next years, I see Deepastambha conducting it's major activities in different parts of Pune (outside Pune too). Our area of work will be much bigger and advanced. Number of projects would increase.

Members, teamwork, systematic management, media-shy attitude, maintaining a positive  environment  for Girls, our quality of work
Weakness: Low member-count for some activities, people who take responsibilities but fail to manage them many times..

Name : Zeeshan Riyaz Mulla

(Upayn - donation camp’s- PM, Special appreciation for Eco-paavitrya project)
Education details:  B.E. Computer Science

Zeeshan’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

When I joined in first, Deepastambha was an organization for me where only Sunday activities kept importance. Now Deepastambha is not just
an organization for me, it’s more likely a family. And it's family members are awesome people who share same views about social
development and are dedicated for same cause. And looking towards well-being of family is a responsibility now.  Deepastambha has given me a
new vision, new horizon and let me meet new people who share some breathtaking dedication towards a social cause.

About achievements, undertaking the responsibility of Eco-Paavitrya project and completing it successfully was an achievement. Playing the
role of king in skit also is achievement as I always wanted to act someday.  I have learnt a lot in Deepastambha, managing things and timings,
how to work and coordinate in a team. The brainstorming sessions which we conduct, makes us to think way beyond what one generally may do. If you undertake some work, it has to be done in every best manner; nothing here is taken in a casual way, & this is what I learned and appreciate about Deepastambha.

In past one year what I have noticed about Deepastambha is that it always craves for excellence. Each activity is superior to what it was the last time. So in coming year  I see Deepastambha growing to new horizons and along with it I getting chance to work for amazing causes. New organizations and growing network along with exploring new areas to conduct activities and more activities in different areas in Pune like  Aundh, Baner is what I see coming up this year. And the existing projects along with Upayn - our trademark donation camp and Annual meet would set new trends as always.
Strength of Deepastambha lies in its awesome people and their awesome dedication. The freedom to talk, express, letting the ideas flow and
encouragement to each individual is what is best part of Deepastambha and this imparts faith in every DCT member. At the same time, professionalism is also practiced here.  Innovation in every undertaken activity and its optimized approach & believing in new members and imparting confidence in them by
allocating big projects to them as project managers is definitely encouraging.  Another plus point is of finding ways to interact with school children with different activities and Encyclo-Falak project. This will impart some sense of responsibility in young age.

However we have some challenges ahead. Many big projects in a short span can lead to member crunch say during awareness or other activity.  Also there should be a way that somehow funds/ financial help can be developed out of some projects and that same can be invested into our Deepastambha projects preparation.

Name : Kedar Deepak Hirve

 (IT division head)
Education details:  Bsc (Computer Science)

Kedar’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

For me Deepastambha is a platform to do our bit for society. It’s a forum where we get to know different aspects of our society. We get to interact with many people working in different areas. Deepastambha helps us to improve as a human being and also gives us a chance to contribute towards betterment of our society.
I was heading a department called as Support Staff from Jan 2011 till June 2013 & was Star of the Year for 2011-12.Currently, I am playing a role of an IT head and Project head for the Annual meet.
I think we have many things going on in parallel. Many projects or small events are happening. We have our calendar packed. In next one year, I think we will continue with our traditional projects and will try to raise the bar we have set for ourselves.
The strengths which we have as an organization are its main elements – Its enthusiastic members! Our open culture in terms of ideas & the excellent bonding between our members helps us to do social work innovatively as well as in a better way. Our knowledge base which we have been working on since last 5.5 years & are still learning new things each day, is what keeps us going.
Our pace  i.e the pace at which things are happening in Deepastambha; It’s like a double edged sword. It will attract some but it might lose some. Also the events which we are conducting, we have to be careful so as to avoid the commercial attitude. Social work should not take a back seat.
We have to now anticipate the sorts of problems which we will encounter as an organization & plan in a way to avoid it! There is lot of work to be done!

Advait’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha for me is Passion, Devotion, Determination and Dedication. Deepastambha fosters a family atmosphere.
I have developed a whole new skill set altogether, honed existing personal qualities, got tremendous exposure, leadership skills, public interactions.
There are plenty things which I learnt from Deepastambha while doing social work. Time management, multi-tasking, people management, meticulous planning and taking responsibilities, planning a budget, setting and achieving targets, & humanity, are few of them. I had got a chance to plan and execute the few activities along with co-PMs like: Christmas celebration at Manavya, traffic awareness activities, Upayn- our trademark donation camp.
In the next one year, I see Deepastambha as- innovation tied up with growth in current as well as new endeavours. Expansion to various areas, collaborations with various organisations are few things where we will definitely work in. Along with this, there will be requirement of improved co-ordination between members and volunteers  & requirement of better funding so as to take up new social projects.
Our strengths which are our dedicated members, visionaries, & our faith in good cause will help our organization to progress as whole. Transparency in all aspects, freedom of expression, innovative ideas and projects, strong roots, enthusiastic members and their team spirit are going to keep us going!

Sucheta's  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Working with Deepastambha has been an immense learning experience, not only in social-work area, but overall! The thing which keeps all of us going is: ‘believing’. Believing in the thing we do, believing in the thought & philosophy of Deepastambha, believing in anything & everything related to Deepastambha.
Something I came across while reading was about: ‘Daffodil Principle’, which we can relate with, whenever we, Deepastambha, do any kind of work.

The Daffodil Principle -“One bulb at a time. There was no other way to do it. No shortcuts--simply loving the slow process of planting. Loving the work as it unfolded. Loving an achievement that grew slowly and bloomed for only three weeks each year.”

Social work also works in similar way. You cannot change the system in one go, or expect every social issue to eradicate soon. What it needs is: consistent efforts.
It would be like focusing on the social issue taken up, having no short-cuts, doing all R&D of the issue and getting involved in right manner, and eventually see the results or in a more positive direction - a better society.
Our strength lies in our members. We work together for a social cause, solidify ideas into a realistic, concrete plan, and connect them to the correct resources to help them implement it. One of our aims is to maximize opportunities to showcase best practice in a way that reinforces a view of social work services which reflects the value and diversity of our work.
The new CSR bill introduced by the present government is a very remarkable achievement. As per this, companies may conduct CSR programs through trusts & societies. This would eventually give a great resource: man-power for social work.
Over the past six years, we have worked and explored different areas and there is still much to learn and work.  Journey till date has been quite successful thanks to the support of the members, organizations, schools, sponsors, vendors and everyone who has been involved with us. With the same support and willingness for work, DCT definitely has a long way to go.
What we should always do is -  Learn all the time, put yourself about, seek new and different experiences, reflect on people's views and ideas – and always be known as someone who really does care and wants to make a difference. Values matter deeply in social work and social care, and must always shine through.

Bhagyesh’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is like a family for me. It is like an institution, where I learn new things regularly. It is like a "stress-buster" after a long tiring week. Working here.. makes me happy.

In next year, I see Deepastambha conducting it's major activities in different parts of Pune (outside Pune too). Our area of work will be much bigger and advanced. Number of projects would increase.
Learnings I have got from this organisation are many, just to list down few: Social Cognizance, creativity, sense of responsibility, management skills, communication with strangers. I was the project manager for our donation camp- Upayn in Nashik-2013. The experience which I got & the satisfaction which we all got after this donation camp, definitely has motivated us to do work in areas outside Pune also.
A part of Eco-Paavitrya 2013 was done in schools and gave me an opportunity to interact and explore this are of society. The special appreciation which I got for this further motivated me positively.

Our strength lies in our members. The teamwork & systematic management which is done for activities, events, as well as meetings is our strong point. Our policy of being a media-shy organization actually explains the genuinity & attracts more people. Another plus point is the way a positive environment is created & maintained for girls.
Sometimes we have low member-count for some activities which is our core part. Also as some members are working in varied fields as well as few are students, we should be careful while taking responsibilities, as leaving them half way is not the way Deepastambha works.
In coming years, we can look into different areas of social work as well as make our foundation more strong.

Aditya’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

I think, Deepastambha is not just a Charitable Trust, but also is a family where different people contribute their efforts to build a better society. There is a wide scope of developing person’s skills.
The area where we can work on is by taking benefit of the online social media, which will help us to spread our message to a larger audience. We should also make sure our members follow the timelines esp during activities so that we will be able to get better output in terms of social work.
Our biggest strength, undoubtedly are the members of Deepastambha, as well as the structure of Deepastambha, where members are at the top. Deepastambha policy of being media shy organization is also one of its strength. The concept of First friend which was introduced last year, helps the new members to gel in with the current members and this helps in group dynamics which eventually help the members to work together for a social cause.  Also every member is given an opportunity to share as well as execute his idea and work in his field of interest.
Though Deepastambha is very clear about its goals, for the next one year Deepastambha can broaden its own nature of work, where a member can deeply involve himself in that particular area in which he is willing to work for example Water Conservation, Traffic Issues, Donation Camps, etc.

Shradha’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

It has been two and half years now that I am associated with Deepastambha. It started with spending just 2 hours every Sunday for some kind of social activity. And now I can very proudly say that it has become a vital part of my life.
Being a Deepastambha member, I feel my responsibility increases even more in a day to day life. Because when I am creating awareness among people to follow traffic rules or to keep our city clean then first I need to check if I am following all these things.
Here, every member gets an equal opportunity and freedom to express his opinion, put forth his idea and I think this is one of the best things in DCT. We have discussions on every new idea that comes in someone’s mind. Then we have a proper planning on how to work on it and every single member contributes as per his ability. At present, we have many new projects introduced in a span of last one year and different teams are working on each project.
One of these projects is “Gramarthan”. It means supporting a village in its development. So, far Deepastambha has worked mainly in Pune city. However, in last annual meet we decided to explore how we can contribute in the rural areas and from that emerged an idea to search for a village where we can do all-round development of the village with the help of the villagers. This can include water management, waste management, health and hygiene, education, women empowerment and more.
All of us are aware that in this new project we will face new challenges in coming period but looking at the past record of Deepastambha, I can confidently say that we will surely find our way through all these challenges.

Pratik’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

When I joined Deepastambha it was only a platform for me to create social awareness and doing my part of social deeds but as my relation grew with Deepastambha it became the integral part of my life. Everything I did had a shadow of Deepastambha on it. Now Deepastambha has evolved drastically in last 2 years. This is not just a platform for developing social sense it is way more than that. I consider this is HOME to anybody’s wildest ideas to hatch. Of course the ideas need to have a social aspect behind it. And slowly Deepastambha can and is creating more of socio-economic views. But our main motto behind Deepastambha is untarnished indeed viz. to help society build in an ideal way.
I have gained huge amount of confidence while working in Deepastambha. Along with doing social work I also have learned management skills eg - managing an event, managing people & managing finance etc. I also have improved my communication skills &interpersonal skills. There has been a considerable increase in the knowledge at personal level & have gained social sense
Right now at whatever pace we are heading, I would say in one year there won’t be any drastic change in Deepastambha. And in one year surely we will have increase in our member count as well.
Currently the financial position of Deepastambha i.e. ways of inflow of funds & sponsorships is something we all will be working for, so as to conduct different social activities & events on a larger scale. Also the attendance of members for weekly activities and monthly meetings or any other meetings should increase. We should make good use of the current social media to spread social awareness.  The strength of Deepastambha lies in its simple working structure & the consistency of the weekly activities. We also have back-up of very eminent experts in almost every social field .The friendly atmosphere which we create while doing social work probably is the best thing which helps all of us  to contribute more for the society.

Laxman’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Each moment in Deepstambha is learning experience for me. Deepastambha is like career for me, I am still under developmentm still learning new things every time I participate in a social activity.
‘Samarth bharat’ gave us an opportunity to select any NGO in between 364 NGO’s in Pune. And I had chosen Deepstambha that time. The spark that I had felt that time is what I am witnessing even right now.
Deepastambha has helped me to achieve my aim of social work in reality with very well manner. Now we, as Deepastambha Charitable Trust are moving from ‘voluntary social work’ towards ‘Professional social work’.
Deepstambha underlined with true spirit of dedication no motive for profit, prestige or political mileage is the main thing which keeps all of us going.
The overall management and the set and disciplined system makes things manageable on a larger scale for any of the social activity/ event. As we are into a professional social work area, what we should work on first is understanding the base of social works which involves : studying different techniques for social work, mode of delivery towards society, network building with society, agencies, volunteers, various sectors along with our effectiveness of management & functioning. We should also be now concentrating on the different projects which have started in the last two years.
As we are going on the path of progress we must not forget our basic objectives and vision and work together for the same, we have a lot of work to do for the betterment of society.

Anand’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

DEEPASTAMBHA is a great platform to each person who is willing to do something for society. I am really proud to be a part of this group which has brought changes in my life.
DEEPASTAMBHA for me is:  An important element in my life, a need of an individual’s social life. How to interact with people in society is an important lesson taught by DEEPASTAMBHA which is helpful in my profession also.  The environment in this organization is very open and transparent. It makes all the members working in it, very comfortable. It’s like one huge family in which every member takes efforts and believes in the concept  of Deepastambha. It’s a great platform for all who want to contribute for the society. Deepastambha has grown in a right direction since last 5-6 years and I believe the secret behind it is the efforts put in by the members. By working together in the similar manner, we together can achieve great heights in this field.  There are different policies formed here, so that as an organization everything will work in a smooth way.  Last year, we had our trademark donation camp, “Upayn” in a newer parts of Pune - Sahakarnagar  & Baner. By taking such new projects, we will definitely spread across different parts of Pune and involve more and more people.  Gradually in coming years we can spread this awareness in different parts of Maharashtra as well! Also in last few months we planned 2 grand events under’ Encyclo-Falak’. Both the events involved school children and were successful.
The area where we need to work on is for getting strong funding backup which is a very important thing for DEEPASTAMBHA in upcoming years to plan & execute new activities and projects.
We must look at ANANDWAN- A Project by Baba Amte and get inspired. We have started study tour- ‘BrahmanJidnyasa’  which gives an opportunity to anyone to visit Anandwan, Hemalkasa & Somnath and  get an unique experience and learn things related to social work & social sensibility.
“Think big goals, and win big success”. Deepastambha will progress further and become one of the most successful social organizations.

Prashad’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a platform not only for me but for every one who really wants to do something for the society. If asked what Deepastambha is for me then, I would say it is something that I cannot put it in words but it is something that one needs to experience and trust me once you come to Deepastambha activity you will come again and again. We all come here with one object/motive, but who are new to Deepastambha and who are willing to join Deepastambha I want to tell you guys this the safest place to work for everyone and not only that but you are at liberty to do all the “legitimate” things for the benefit of society and for Deepastambha. You can explore your ideas and members are always there to help you in every situation. Now Deepastambha is like family to me and tell me can anyone live without family?
Just to share one recent experience : We Deepastambha members were doing awareness about donations on the very day of UPAYN- which is our Trademark donation camp. We were appealing to people for various  donation like blood, clothes, plastic, paper etc. During awareness I saw the music director Pyarelal buying fruits along with his wife near UPAYN venue @ Baner. Without wasting much of time I went to him and told him about concept of the UPAYN and requested him to visit the venue. Initially he said no as he was heading towards the Mumbai and he told me that he might get late. But I insisted and requested him & tried to explain him the cause behind this social event. He came to our venue & appreciated our work and his wife also donated some money to Deepastambha. At that time donation was not important for me but convincing him and taking him to the venue was important. From this incident I want to tell my fellow Deepastambha members that, talk to people convince them, trust me they will definitely help Deepastambha.
From last 3 years I am working with Deepastambha. I have witnessed the growth of Deepastambha. Right now we have many ongoing projects. According to me instead of introducing any new projects we should properly implement the existing projects in terms of “finance”. After 1 year I see some definite income source to DCT, at least we should take major steps for fixed income this year.
I think needless to say “our own members” is the biggest strength of Deepastambha. And I don’t find any weakness but definitely there is lot of scope for improvement.

Name : Madhavi Chitale

Madhavi’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

I’ve learned many things after joining Deepastambha of which I was not aware of. I’ve came to know my role in our society, basic rules & discipline, which we should follow.
Deepastambha is another part of my life. I always wished to bring happiness in other's lives and this organization has been a great medium for achieving that.
In this year Deepastambha should plan some big social events based on the concepts that are out of the box, so that other people would come to know about Deepastambha more. This will make social work more interesting.
Our strength lies within ourselves. Deepastambha members’ give full respect to their co-members and everyone tries to understand everyone’s view. What we can improve on is the management done after any of the entire social event conducted by us, by re-using & managing the different inventory/decoration material.  With such enthusiastic member count in Deepastambha, we can give a new dimension to social work.

Tejas’s  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha for began as a platform for social service for the
community around it. As time progressed and my involvement increased,
I realized that this is not just a platform but a joint family with a
common goal. I am happy and very proud to be a part of this family.
One of my biggest achievements in DCT was when I learned
the attitude required while working in a team of people from various
fields. The technique that I learned has helped in success of various
social activities of DCT including but not limited to Upayn- our trademark donation camp, Annual Meet, Eco-Paavitrya, Gramarthan- village development project.
I am also a member of Pratirav team our bi-monthly newsletter.

I see Deepastambha as a banyan tree that has increasing number of
trunks to support its canopy. I have a vision that in the coming year
to focus more on strengthening each pillar and branch before
increasing the size of the canopy.

Most people believe that Deepastambha's biggest strength is its
growing number of members, whereas it is not quite so. The strength of
Deepastambha lies in the dedication of the members shown towards the
activities, projects and functioning of DCT. The member count needs to
increase, that is necessary, but the dedicated members must also
increase with as much potential as possible. The training sessions which Deepastambha conducts surely help in motivation, member bonding and knowledge transfer also.

Understanding the strengths and working on our weakness will definitely help us to explore more and more social work areas & work on them.

Name :Purnima Chitale

Purnima’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is way of life for me. I always wished to bring happiness in other's lives and this organization has been a great medium for achieving that.

“We can never really change someone; people must change themselves. But we can help. We can be a resource." - Stephen R. Covey. These words reflect the soul of this trust and I am honoured to be a part of it.

I have learned many things from Deepastambha. It taught me the discipline. It helped me in improving the art of building a helping relationship, in self-determination, perseverance. The things which I have learned are what I have achieved, and I want to achieve more. Deepastambha created a comforting sense of being understood and accepted.

We have reached out to the people through our efforts in the various activities that we've been actively pursuing, & in the coming year I hope this continues and grows with its arms reaching out to the nooks and corners of the cities we serve.

Our strength lies in our unity and the strong resolve to which every member abides while doing what we do. Every member participates whole-heartedly to fulfil a unified purpose.

The area where we can look into is regarding the management of the art and craft decorations post-use, which we make during our events. The material which we utilise should be re-usable.

I also hope that we tread down a path that has not been travelled.  Last year the way we interacted with the school children we can get involved more in this like arranging tree plantations & other social awareness workshops for the school children. Because in doing so, we'll familiarize their minds and perspectives towards nature and society in general.

Name : Tejashri Shirish Padmanabhi
(DivisionHead-Inventory Management and Admin,
Upayn PM- Sahakarnagar- Nov 2013)
Education details:  B.Com. , Masters in Law (UOP).

Tejashri’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

It’s been almost a year I am working with Deepastambha. Deepastambha Charitable Trust is the best platform to the person who really wants to bring the change in the society and work for it’s development. In Deepastambha, every member is so dedicated and focused and it’s a real strength of DCT. The upwards graph of Deepastambha’s growth is only due to its simple structure, clarity in actions and fundamental principles.

In Deepastambha, members enjoy the freedom to express their ideas and opinions and also are ready to accept suggestions. In DCT we can see a good blend of good ideas, creative implementation, team work and best leadership. The quality work and best end results are the highlights of every activity in Deepastambha.

In Deepastambha, we have a system where-in we maintain the database of each member/ donor, every organization, our well-wishers etc. We also keep the records of inventory needed and logistics required. This makes the management and planning of any activity/ project very easy.

In coming years, Deepastambha, as an organization, will expand the scope of its activities and projects all over Maharashtra. DCT will try to reach nearer and handle every possible social cause and will try for betterment in many sectors.

As we all know, the scope of DCT is increasing and many activities and projects are going on simultaneously, we must make sure that we are not ignoring the basic structure and principles of DCT. We also have to consider every small thing and opinions and view points related to that activity / project.  The second important thing is we must continue to keep and maintain proper records of each and every activity and of every department more efficiently. We need to invest more time for the upcoming responsibilities and challenges too.

I really feel immensely satisfactory and proud to be a member of Deepastambha Family where ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS!

    Name : Sayli Narendra Patil
(Back stage activity co-ordinator) Education details: 4th year, B.Arch, Pune

Sayli’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA: Deepastambha for me is the best part of my life. It is the best thing I spend my time for. Working here gives me tremendous joy, and also a feeling of handling a huge responsibility. If there's one thing I regret is - its not joining DCT earlier. I love to take part in each and every activity and give my best for it. I sincerely feel that DCT has literally changed my point of view towards life. I feel happy and loved to be given so many things when I see people struggling to get it. Deepastambha is in the hands of some great leaders guiding you in ever step towards the noble cause. I have learnt that social work or helping the needy is not a work which only the ones interested in it should do; It is our responsibility and if I could make an attempt to change a few things about the society, making people aware to contribute towards the society would top my list. My contribution towards my people can be said to be very tiny, compared to the hard working and sincere people in Deepastambha. These people are a continuos motivation for other members also. The strength of Deepastambha lies in its unity, and in the fact that its handled so carefully and sincerely. Here everyone gets his/her chance of leadership and learns to manage things and people, which is really a very good opportunity. The regularity & the consistency in the activities being carried out is majorly responsible for the success of Deepastambha, as per my view. I haven't seen any weaknesses till date, and even if I have, I have seen them perishing very soon. I see Deepastambha growing bigger and spreading its branches wider to reach out to the maximum people possible, just like the way we grew in the last year.

Anushka's Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

“Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. “Technology refers to the collection of tools that make it easier to use, create, manage and exchange information. With this, we started converting our processes into IT enabled services I can say it was an IT year for Deepastambha as many IT initiatives came in. The first paperless Upayn is the best example and moving forward we should come up with few mobile-apps and more interactive web systems.

Quality means doing it accurate when no one is looking and it is our adoptions that show who we really are, far more than our abilities; this type of attitude is going to help us in moving forward. With Completion of 5 years we have definitely started setting benchmark for us in quality with one or other activity. As the organization grows, percolation of ethics and values into and around the organization becomes very critical. I feel while exploring new ideas we should definitely focus on this.

We often use the words "creativity" and "innovation" interchangeably but we should not. Creativity is about coming up with ideas while innovation is about "bringing ideas to life." “Innovation is the process of turning ideas into manufacturable and marketable form.” With which I can actually connect our project “Encyclo-Falak” which was the step taken towards connecting new generation and their thoughts.

Addition to this rural enrichment can become one of the top agenda wherein making villagers self-sufficient will be the main motive.
It is said :
"If you would be known, and not know, vegetate in a village; if you would know, and not be known, live in a city. “A village is a hive of glass, where nothing unobserved can pass”.

I feel working on villagers’ development than village development can be the outline. Practising new things, individual and organization growth will be always there, however I think next 3 years are going to be very challenging for Deepastambha as I predict a major move in “concept to implementation” speed, new volunteers and changing environment in social expansion.
