NAME:  Pratik Mukund Langarkande
(Special Appreciation for Eco-Paavitrya 2012,Group Leader-Study tour 2012,Management of First Friend concept )

EDUCATION DETAILS: Graduation from University of Pune in Biotechnology
Post-Graduation from University of Pune in Biotechnology

Pratik’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

I sincerely feel that the reason Deepastambha Charitable Trust (DCT) is GROWING day by day is just because of its simple structure and fundamental "LESS TALKING MORE DOING" attitude. The basic rule of Deepastambha i.e. NO MEDIA and NO CASTE/RELIGION/POLITICAL PARTY makesusvery strong and efficient in doing what actually society needs. Another highlight of DCT is reaching out in every possible area which needs attention w.r.t to social work. When people ask me "what do you do these days?" I feel absolutely honored to tell them that I WORK WITH DEEPASTAMBHA CHARITABLE TRUST. And the best part is I don’t need to tell them what I actually do; they already know what DCT does. It’s a great joy when people appreciate what you do. It’s the best feeling for me and also for my parents too. I owe alot to DCT.

I was awarded with "Special Appreciation for Eco-Paavitrya 2012". It was one of the Best moments in past 2 years in DCT. Development of Social Sense is one of the main things to point out along with Team work, Management skills, taking the Responsibility and many more.

After more than 4 years of DCT’s functioning, one issue which comes up after certain duration is the consistency of members. The member turn-over and member retention is a very critical issue in such fields. To maintain this, Deepastambha has started its very own concept of “First Friend in Deepastambha”, in which we make the new member familiar to all the functionalities of DCT by assigning an existing DCT member to him/her as a ‘first friend’. This makes the new member accustomed to the working culture and environment of DCT and helps in gelling up of members.

Deepastambha’s biggest backbone has always been its valued members. The endless dedication from all its members has brought DCT to this level. I am absolutely sure that within 3 years we will spread our area of work all over MAHARASHTRA and may be even ABROAD, just like the way we started off in 2012 Upayn.

NAME:  Sayli Narendra Patil
( Special Appreciation for ECO-Paavitrya 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS:Student, Bachelor of Architecture Third Year from BNCA, Pune

Sayli’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha in its own way has proved to be the best part of my life. It has taught me to make people happy, take care of our society, our nature. The most important part is the distinctive unity in the group which makes me feel comfortable and at the same time gives me strength&support.

The feeling of achievement that I get from other things and from Deepastambha cannot be compared. For me, a big smile on the face of the people for whom we work is more than winning a gold medal. Working here gives tremendous happiness and satisfaction. I have become more responsible. I joined DCT for making myself feel happy by helping others, but today DCTtaught me that I should make thousands of people happy, selflessly.

Deepastambha has chosen the path to explore all the work areas related to social work, with its greatest asset: unity. We all work together as one whole team, and as it is said: Team means Together Everyone Achieves More!

Also along with all this an important ingredient is ‘creativity’. Innovation and creativity are important components of a good social organization.
Looking outside the box, seeing things from a different perspective or experiencing oneself differently, and then effectively doing and promoting these things in others generate a new interest in all our members which are the backbone of Deepastambha.

With the increasing number of responsible members and donations too, I think DCT is doing great and will surely expand the range of places that it works currently. If more new people contribute their time consistently with new ideas, DCT will be recognized way beyond its boundaries and will further help for serving more and more people.

NAME: Manoj Shyam Patankar

EDUCATION DETAILS:Student, B.E Final Year Student in (Instrumentation and Control) at AISSMS’s Institute of Information Technology, Pune.

Manoj’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

It never really matters who brings about the change, but I feel I’m working with those who’re most capable for it. I can recall numerous instances when I was literally moved to tears, and most importantly felt proud. The perfect blend of experience, flexibility and knowledge makes Deepastambha stand out. Building the capability of members by throwing challenges toward them is not only the essence of the organisation, but also the best possible way forward. In my view, the Deepastambha spirit not only embodies social responsibility; but also encourages planned course of action based on thorough knowledge. An organisation that offers something for everyone and each person learns to be a better team player. This is an organisation which firmly believes in “The strength of the team is each individual member, and strength of each member is the team.”

I learnt basic management skills necessary for managing and satisfying a group of people working for a single cause. Communication with strangers is often a very awkward part of social work, but with time I can say everyone in DCT has helped me to master it! I became socially aware and the methodical thinking became more and more rational. Every activity teaches me new lessons in social life, civic sense and awareness of social change.
One aspect of Deepastambha which needs to be highlighted is its systematic approach for things and the processes. All the processes are set and have a particular basic procedure. These set processes make it easier to execute different things in an orderly and efficient manner.

Deepastambha will continue the upward trend in next three years exactly as it did in the past three years. All the major projects- activities like Eco-Paavitrya, Upayn, Conserve to Serve etc, will find their feet very strongly outside Pune. Our aim is to become an “umbrella” like organisation, that can execute various ideas coming from members, well-wishers etc to the point of absolute success.
It’s imperative that the ability of DCT to impart social change will increase exponentially in the next few years.

As Stan Lee’s Spiderman quotes - With great power comes great responsibility!

NAME: Mahesh Madhav Sane
( Division Head- Knowledge Management)

EDUCATION DETAILS: B.Com, PG ( Marketing),
                                 Pursuing PHD in Marketing.

Mahesh’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a group of youngsters who are working for social causes with innovative ways. Members are enjoying their freedom to express with the satisfaction of the work. Consistency is our main strength. Deepastambha is the best example of a democratic organization.

Team work, creativity, leadership, handling different situations in different ways etc. are the terms we all learnt theoretically in books, but I got opportunity to learn& experience all of these in Deepastambha.

In 2012, there was an initiative taken by me for the 'Essay Competition ' in the schools under our “Eco-Paavitrya” Project. The purpose behind this was to introduce in the school children the benefits of celebrating our festivals in eco-friendly way. In DCT, we make sure we all are socially responsive and then make aware the people around us for the same, like recently we arranged forms for new members registration in the voting list.

Being a social organization, it involves continuous interaction with different kinds of people. At DCT, along with social work, focus is given on the interpersonal skills as well. As mentioned before effective communication, group dynamics etc. are developed here and efforts are taken to inculcate the same in our members. Specialized trainings are also arranged for the same for the benefit of our members. This will help in overall development of our member in all aspects.
In coming years, Deepastambha should concentrate on its projects as it is the time for horizontal expansion. These projects should become identity for Deepastambha.

NAME: Shradha Shashikant Ronghe
(Division Head- Inventory Management,Management of First Friend concept)

EDUCATION DETAILS: M.Sc (Statistics)

Shradha’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a great platform for all people who are willing to work for their society. It might be for just 2 hrs. per week but it surely gives immense satisfaction and also makes you more aware about your social responsibilities.

“You've got to think about 'big things' while you're doing small things, so that all the small things go in the right direction. “

Now after almost 5 years of functioning we have undertaken different projects/concepts. These will be the on-going projects with a larger scope. But while doing this we make sure we are not neglecting the basic and small things in DCT which have definitely helped in forming what DCT currently is. We keep the track of the members who join us for the activities and make sure their ideas/feedbacks are shared with us. Apart from this the inventory, the logistics are also maintained so that whatever a member needs can be provided to him/her easily. E.g.: When we do different art and craft activities with the children in orphanages we need paper, crayons etc. All these things are also taken care at the backend.
Apart from doing social work this is a place where you learn new things, get to explore new ideas and get an experience for lifetime. I have been managing the administrative part as well as the logistic part for Deepastambha since some time. I had received appreciation for Upayn 2011 along with the ‘Star of the Month’ , and it indeed as motivated me more.

In the coming future, we should concentrate on increasing the count of members and our sponsors, along with maintaining the quality of our work.

NAME: Hrishikesh Surendra Pandkar

(Division Head- Team Building Management,Team Leader-Study tour 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS: Bachelor Of Commerce (Costing)

Hrishikesh’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

It’s been almost 4 years that I am working with Deepastambha Charitable Trust. The thing which keeps me going is the bond all the members share and the way we all work together with one common objective in the mind.
The most amazing thing about DCT is the consistency in its work in such fair amount of time.Along with the weekly activities which we take up, we also often have some team-building sessions or study tours. The team-building sessions are taken almost twice a year, the main objective being, gelling up of members plus allowing all to get into a comfort zone of Deepastambha. The beginning of the study tours on a larger scale was in 2013, which was a visit to Anandwan, the community rehabilitation Centre for leprosy patients founded by Baba Amte. The other places which visited, included Hemalkasa and Somnath. The experience and learnings’ we got from this study tour cannot be expressed in words. The main objectives of such tours is basically to explore, get a chance to meet people who have devoted their life for the upliftment of society as well as getting acquainted with the different aspects of social work.
With all these objectives to fulfill, DCT has a long way to go in the future years with the help of its strength- DCT, members.

NAME:  ANURAG SANJAY DESHMUKH

EDUCATION DETAILS:3rd Year Engineering(Information Technology)

Anurag’sPerspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

DEEPASTAMBHA is a great platform to each and every person who is willing to do any kind of social work. Around the years I have also observed that Deepastambha has been successful in developing interests of even those people who weren’t interested in social work or were unaware of the social responsibility which we owe towards our society. Deepastambha always motivates young members like us to participate, plan, and lead different activities. Working in Deepastambha gives immense pleasure, content and joy equally. There has never been any sense of fear or guilty while working here. The discipline, code of conduct is great and working with each and every member is a great pleasure. Each and every activity we conduct makes me feel that YES...I have done something good at the end of the day!

The biggest thing I have achieved while working with Deepastambhais self-respect. With every new activity I learned different things…like: MORAL ETHICS, GROUP LEADERSHIP, DISCIPLINE, UNITY and surely it will keep me teaching many more. My way of looking towards society has completely changed. Working with Deepastambhahas completely made me self-responsible.

As they say, The way to get started is to quit talking and begin doing.
The feeling of doing some kind of social work has affected me so strongly that I am myself trying to change the people around me in a positive way.
One moment I cherish is, the time I got a trophy of special appreciation for ECO-PAAVITRYA. This has rightlymotivated me to work more and more. And as I always say…I have always heard the word PROUD right since my childhood but it is DEEPASTAMBHA who has made me experience it!
All the activities go in the official & professional way. And if all of us continue working in the same manner, there is no doubt that we can achieve wonders in the upcoming years! Truly speaking, in no time Deepastambha can be one of the best NGO’s in Maharashtra.

Well also, these lines are definitely not enough to conclude what Deepastambha is all about. I just tell people that I have 2 wonderful families!

NAME: Anand Vinayak Bangale
(Project Head-1st Upayn in 2013,Pratirav-Content designer)

EDUCATION DETAILS: Arts graduate, Marketing professional

Anand’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

In the middle of 2012, I came across a Facebook profile of one of the social organization. The concept stated there was “Two hours in a week for the society”! this instantly drove me to join it. The first activity which I attended of this social organization was its ‘Annual Meet’ at Balgandharva Rangamandir in July. The management, planning, execution, the bonding of members, the welcoming given to a new member, and motivating highly appealed to me, and I instantly became a part of Deepastambha Charitable Trust.
The environment in this organization is very open and transparent. It makes all the members working in it, very comfortable. It’s like one huge family in which every member takes efforts and believes in the concept behind Deepastambha. It’s a great platform for all who want to contribute for the society. Deepastambha has grown in a right direction since last 4.5 years and I believe the secret behind it is the efforts put in by the members. By working together in the similar manner, we together can achieve great heights in this field.  There are different policies formed here, so that as an organization everything will work in a smooth way.

“Think big goals, and win big success”

With this in mind, recently we had a donation camp, Upayn in a newer part of Pune- Sahakarnagar. By taking such new projects, we will definitely spread across different parts of Pune and involve more and more people. Gradually in coming years we can spread this awareness in different parts of Maharashtra as well! I am proud to be a part of Deepastambha family!

NAME:  Shweta Sunil Khedekar
(Special Appreciation for ECO-Paavitrya 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS:Student, Bachelor of Architecture Third Year from BNCA, Pune

Shweta’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha in my view is a superb platform at least for me to do social service. It serves a complete chance to do what you want to for the society without any barriers in a complete interactive and friendly atmosphere. Every Sunday,Deepastambha gives me a complete feeling of doing what I dreamt of doing since childhood.

We all as a part of a social group need to be creative (inventive /adaptive) in a world that is constantly changing:a world that requires us also to change/adapt. In Deepastambha, we all try to brainstorm on different issues and encourage members to speak up and come with original ideas. This boosts the members participation and in turn results in a different activity/ project with the same objective I .e. making people social aware and responsible.

In Deepastambha, I mainly learned how to manage things. I was exposed to outer world. I became aware of different social issues. Discussions on different socialissues triggered a thought process in everyone. The exchange of ideas, the work culture has had an immense impact on me overall. The consistency in the work, i.e. commitment by all of us for 2 hours every weekend is really commendable.

Deepastambha is on progressing ladder of success. With lots of hard workand complete dedication in few years I see Deepastambha in list of top most NGO’s in Maharashtra.

NAME: Neha Rajendra Pandkar
( Star of the Year 2012,Division Head- Finance Management,Project Head-Encyclo-Falak)

EDUCATION DETAILS: B Com, CA Inter

Neha’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a platform in real sense, where it’s always inspiring to work upon for absolutely any social cause that comes to my mind. Freedom to express seems to be the golden key which motivates as well as allows everyone to express their views about social work, for social work.

In DCT I started learning tackling things on grass root level, ascending the workflow originated from small tasks done with utmost Quality & Integrity. I learnt that this surely paves the way to from a sustainable work system. I believe the activity fieldwork or even the interaction with people through the several activities we do, have given a real inspiration to think of any little issue in a socially cognitive way, may it be ensuring the use of dustbin for scrap wherever I go, or minimizing the use of electricity or any such small thing.
“Be the change your wish to see in the world.”, and that’s where we all start, by changing and developing a social sense in all of us, and then creating awareness of the same.

Every activity which we do, triggers an idea or a thought process for a new one, where-in all of us are eager to contribute.  By taking regular feedbacks, observations  etc we try to improve our activities, be it on any level, financial, logistics, the quality, the management, the output.
A very important learning for me through DCT is a belief of me being a important part of society and having a potential to create a change in its most creative manner!
In its road ahead, DCT can associate with different schools/ companies. Creating social awareness in schools, starting smaller projects/ activities can definitely help in building a society which is aware of its social responsibilities.

NAME: Kedar Deepak Hirve
(Division Head - Activity Management & Support Staff ,Project Head(Pune)- Upayn 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS: Bsc (Computer Science) Pune University.

Kedar’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

DEEPASTAMBHA is a fantastic initiative by some wonderful people. It has provided a platform to all those enthusiastic, passionate people who want to do something for the society. It’s really difficult to form a benchmark and to raise that continuously in field like social work. But Deepastambha is doing that for last 5 years without a miss. It’s my privilege to be a part of this group.
I am leading the function called as support staff for last one and half year. I was the star of the year for year 2010-11. From last few months, I am handling all the activities-Activity Head. Activity for Deepastambha forms its crux. Planning an activity requires different aspects to be considered like the objective, the no. of people getting involved, the output, and finance. All these facets need to be measured before finalizing an activity. All our members have the developed this thought process, before executing an activity which gives a social activity a polished look.

I can surely say that, the list of things which an individual learns and gains while doing a social activity with DCT is endless. Our DCT environment and approach of work is such that along with social work, it polishes as well as amplifies an individual’s assets like communication skills, decision making, management skills and many more. I have learned a lot from this group. Words fail here...
3 years down the line our area of work will be much bigger and advanced. Number of projects would increase, but to achieve newer highs many more people need to put their hands up. Bench strength is the key and it’s our responsibility to create the next generation, which has sound social and civic sense.

NAME: Rohit Arun Gokhale
(Division Head - Relationship Management,
Project Head of "Pratirav-echoes of action")

EDUCATION DETAILS: B.Com, LLB, M.A. (Economics), ACS

Rohit’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

I consider myself fortunate to have associated with Deepastambha from day one and that's why I got a chance to closely observe and be a part of journey of Deepastambha so far.As the name suggests it has definitely provided platform to the youth for social work.
The specialty of this group is well educated young members and working in a corporate culture which makes this group distinct from the other groups.Every member is provided an opportunity to share his thoughts and freedom ofexpression. Each decision is taken after taking into consideration thesuggestions of all the members.
The best thing which I have experienced in this group is 'the consistency'.Today we proudly say that since August 2008 we have not missed even a singleweekend on which we have not conducted any activity, excluding theunforeseen circumstances like swine flu etc. After 5 years I can definitely say that though we might not have achievedanything great in the field of social work, but what we have achieved is theinculcation of "Social Awareness" in the minds of our members which was abunch of hardly 30 youngsters five years ago, which has grown to the flockof 350 plus dedicated members.
What these five years have taught us is that "Social Awareness and
Betterment of Society are directly related with each other
" i.e. a socially
aware individual automatically / invariably contributes to the betterment of society.
Today, according to me, we have definitely reached a stage where we know exactly what we are doing and what we want to achieve in future. I had the experience of managing Finance related activities of DCT in past and now, managing the legal side of Deepastambha and acting as relationship   management division of DCT. Along with this regular management and contribution for our new initiative of bi-monthly e-newsletter: ‘Pratirav’ is also taken care of. Pratirav will basically reach to all our members, being for private circulation, and give them the insight of the happenings in DCT along with few social topics mentioned in brief.
It’s very difficult to say where Deepastambha will be after 3 years, but we will surely try our best to conduct more and more innovative awareness activities in upcoming years. In the lights of provisions upcoming Companies Bill related to CSR, where the Govt. is proposing to make it mandatory for the class of companies to spend 2% of their average profits on CSR activities, I can foresee Deepastambha doing more and more CSR activities for many corporate, obviously without losing our focus.

NAME: Raju.B.Yadav
 (Active participation for Upayn 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS: B.A. (University of Pune)

Raju’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a perfect platform with the help of which one can get proper directions for whatever one strives to do for the community/society. In Deepastambha, different people come together and a strong bond is formed amongst all of them, and all of them work together for a common purpose which is betterment of society. This is an organization where, one exerts oneself selflessly. Necessary things are made available/provided to the people who need it.
I have learnt discipline, social values and what I can do for the society from Deepastambha. All these social activities are carried out by us since 5 years ; we have been working on each Sunday for 2 hours. In 2012, Deepastambha had organized Upaynä  – Donation in a form of gift in Pune as well as other cities like Nashik and Kolhapur, thereby extending its boundaries. There is a need of conducting such awareness and donation camps outside Pune.
Realizing that one is a part of the society is a necessity and the responsibilities towards the society are inevitable. In the near future, with the aid of our “vision” and “objectives” we will surely conduct our social activities outside Pune, wherein the localities will join us too.
Today, Deepastambha is recognized by many people and in the future we will form an alliance with various education institutes and corporate organizations. This will help us take bigger responsibilities and projects in our hands.

NAME: Konark.A.Varma
(Division Head- e-Portals Management-From September 2012-till date)

EDUCATION DETAILS:  Interior Designer (B.A. Marathi)

Konark’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is not only an organization but also like a family to me and I am proud to be a member of this family. I have learnt many things from Deepastambha and I am sure that, I will learn many more things in future too. Being a Project Manager for any activity is like a “learning step”. I have gained knowledge on managing an activity, planning, and have definitely gained management skills and leadership qualities. New members are always encouraged here. Each and every member, old or new, is encouraged and provided with all the details e.g. Activity details, Post-Activity feedback, etc. Social Networking has upgraded the awareness campaigns and networking amongst all members and Deepastambha has gained an upper hand through this medium.  A lot of information reaches to a lot of people through Website, Blogs, Facebook.
In the coming few years, Deepastambha will strive to become an active charitable trust in not only in Pune, but outside Pune, and will procure many grand social projects. Moreover, we are working towards that direction too.

NAME:  PALLAVI PRAKASH AWATE
(Special Appreciation for ECO-Paavitrya 2012)

EDUCATION DETAILS: M.Sc. Biotechnology, University of Pune.
Pursuing M.S. in Biological Sciences from University of Massachusetts

Pallavi’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is an opportunity for all those who feel like there has to be some change some day in our society in different aspects & as we move forward we step into a better tomorrow. What I love about Deepastambha is acting rather than just thinking & discussing. Every member gets an equal chance to present themselves, participate in any which way they want & this has made Deepastambha develop a lot. Another thing which makes Deepastambha a great NGO is working in all sorts of different areas possible. If you are into social work, it’s always about helping the community for its betterment. It has to start at home.
We can see the change in society after five years of dedication to social work that now people at least understand what’s wrong & what’s right. It will take time for implementation but surely we feel the change. We’re at very early stages of development. More people are joining us. We are taking different projects getting help “from people for people”. Right from Bobby, watering, cleaning activities to big projects like Eco-paavitrya, Upayn people see Deepastambha team working hard, appreciate, become socially aware & few of them join as members too. It’s the greatest feeling to see someone smiling & you being the reason behind their happiness!! & Deepastambha has made me feel this after each visit to an orphanage or blind’s home or any other institution. I was lucky enough to get a chance to entertain cancer patients on Independence Day. It is my fortune that I belong to that part of people of the society who care for others & don’t just sit at home thinking that someday someone will help this situation, but Deepastambha as a group, work at their best to give the community what it deserves & hope someday our dream will come true & later generations would wake up in a much better healthy environment!!!
I have been associated with Deepastambha for more than 2 years & I find tremendous change in my life since the day I joined. Ever since I’m working with Deepastambha, it has changed my view towards life. I realized there are needy people all around, there is illiteracy, misconceptions everywhere. Even I was unaware of few things. Deepastambha leaves a feeling of satisfaction in me. The traffic awareness campaign made me change myself, I started following traffic rules myself & then only I could convince people to do the same.
The first thing I learnt is communicating is the solution for most of the problems in life. I got the best friends circle I ever had. I interact with people from almost all fields & of all age groups. My social network has become strong. I learnt many new things here. I got an opportunity to maintain records of finance during Upayn. I learnt record maintenance. Being a part of Deepastambha is not just learning “about” living in a better way or changing the society for better but learning to live in a way that would make you, your family & your community proud. Deepastambha is a tendency that has inculcated in me. It has made me a responsible citizen. I have learnt to accept good as good. I have stopped using my captious mind unnecessarily. That’s why I said it’s a tendency that’s a source of positive energy in my life. I have learnt to help others when they need you. It made me think about others without expecting anything from them. I have started sharing things I hear/read with people for their benefit. I now look at myself first before pointing out others mistakes. I am honoured to receive “Special Appreciation award for Eco-Paavitrya 2012”. It boosted my confidence & motivated me to work harder.
Deepastambha has reached most of the corners of society & working for its betterment for 5 years. It won’t be wrong to say it will be the best NGO in Maharashtra in a few years. The collaboration with other NGOs, different industries, schools will help Deepastambha reach more people. Projects like Upayn in different cities across Maharashtra will help develop a member base in those cities & spread the work. The bar of fund raising programmes will be raised quite high & this will be a great achievement & more large scale, long term projects can be covered in those funds. The project wherein NRI Deepastambha members can participate in fund raising programmes through their contacts abroad should be the constant source of funding in few years.

NAME :-  Sucheta Mahajan
 (Vice President)

Education details:  BCS, MCA
Sucheta's  Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Deepastambha is a platform for anyone who wants to do some sort of social work, but along with that it’s also an organization where you can actually put your thoughts into action, and work together for a social cause.
Currently we have many social issues in the society & now we have come to a point, where-in we have to not only think but plan and work on it. What I immediately am reminded of is –
क्रियेवीण वाचाळता व्यर्थ आहे..
We face social issues at every step, be it local, national or at global level & the best way to start tackling it is by doing some ground work, gathering like-minded people, try to find solutions and work for the same.
With new interesting innovative projects like, ‘Encyclo-Falak’, which involves students of different schools throughout Pune, we have tried to inculcate social sense amongst current generation. We also had our first study tour this year, to Anandwan,  a community rehabilitation centre for leprosy patients& disabled, founded by noted social activist, Baba Amte. This helped our members and others to know & explore this self-contained, self-sufficient ashram, and the way of life of the Amtes. It has motivated all of us and Deepastambha will continue to take such study tours.
The strength of Deepastambha still lies in new ideas which come from members which eliminate the typical image of a social worker. The knowledge base which the members are building now for Deepastambha is going to be beneficial in the coming years for us.
With all these parallel projects running, and still many social issues untouched we have a lot of work to be done. In coming few years, developing and reaching out to the younger generation i.e. students will definitely prove beneficial to create a socially sensible society.

Ameya’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

DCT is Innovation, Dedication, Management, Teamwork, Energy, Knowledge and Inspiration. In last 3 years we surely knew how to crawl and make an impact through small but consistent effort. But now I feel it’s time to walk before start running. Now the platform has set to do constructive work and achieve the goals. Changing the attitude from Complaining to Co-operation is the crux of DCT’s philosophy.

For me serving for such a wonderful initiative itself is an achievement.
Whatever we do in life, we should do whole heartedly and always try to improve upon.

Deepastambha has set a wonderful platform for all and I’m sure coming years are going to be really exciting. Now everyone is so confident and fearless that we can achieve great things. Now members who are oxygen of DCT are exploring their thoughts with no barriers and we surely have something to look forward to. The next three years are going to be tough to build on this wonderful platform. Two major challenges would be Funding and Next Cadre of Members, and for that I think we should start some program or project to involve school students who will take this movement forward.

Anushka’s Perspective of DEEPASTAMBHA:

Doing the same thing over and over, yet expecting different results is the definition of crazy.
And all Deepastambha members are crazy.. We started with a small group of 8-10 people and now it has reached to more than 300. We always go through phases of learning while doing anything in Deepastambha.

2012 was a year when many Deepastambha members came further and took initiative. “A boat doesn't go forward if each one is rowing their own way”. This never happens in Deepastambha. Every initiative is inline with Deepastambha’s principle and supported by all the team members.

While developing those ideas and implementing it, I was always having concern about protection of idea before implementation. Intellectual property is an important legal and cultural issue now a day. People recognize intellectual property the same way they recognize real estate. People understand what property is. But it's a new kind of property, and so the understanding uses new control surfaces. It uses a new way of defining the property. We started turning those concept/ideas/seeds into intellectual property.

Whenever I think about Deepastambha, I always compare it to last year’s Deepastambha and try to find out what are those things, which will take it a step ahead. The professional approach in every small thing is definitely strength of Deepastambha.

There is no end to education. It is not that you read a book, pass an examination, and finish with education. The whole of life, from the moment you are born to the moment you die, is a process of learning. Yes we are in the same process. We are looking forward for different professional trainings for us to enhance our abilities along with practical experience.
2 years down the line, I see Deepastambha as a knowledge hub in society for executing different initiative for benefit of society. Addition to this, Deepastambha is and will always a motivation for anybody who wants to explore for best of society.
Quality is not an act, it is a habit, and I believe that we will always take care of it. Innovation is climbing the ladder of success, Management is efficiency in climbing the ladder of success and leadership determines whether the ladder is leaning against the right wall. I am sure, when there is cooperation and collaboration of Deepastambha team members, wonderful things can be achieved.
